Private one-on-one coaching with Liza · 5 spots
Speak Russian from your very first lesson, not someday.
One-on-one coaching with me, a real Russian teacher. Not an app, not a class of thirty. Just you and me, building every lesson around your level and your reason for learning, and you talking out loud from day one.

You have tried the apps. Maybe a textbook too, or a tutor for a while. You can recognise words on a screen, but they do not come out when a real person is waiting for an answer. The streak breaks, the lessons drift back into English, and one day you notice you have stopped opening the app at all.
You are not lazy, and you are not bad at languages. No one ever built the learning around you, around the conversations you are actually trying to have.
Why you are here
You are not learning Russian. You are learning it for a reason.
Most courses teach the same Russian to everyone. I build your lessons around the one below that is actually yours.

Your family speaks it
A grandmother who slips into Russian when she is tired. A parent whose first language was never passed down to you. We start with the words that live in your own family, so you can follow the table talk, read what she wrote by hand, and answer back instead of just smiling along.

You love the films, the books, the music
You have watched the film twice and still feel the subtitles are hiding something. We work from the Russian you actually want to understand, your songs, your writers, your scenes, until you catch the line a beat before the translation does.

You want to go and feel at home
Ordering your own coffee. Asking the way and understanding the answer. Reading the sign above your head instead of guessing. We practise the real situations of your trip, so you arrive as someone who belongs there, not a tourist being looked after.

There is someone you love
A partner whose family still switches to Russian at dinner. We work on the words that matter to you both, so you can say the real thing in their language and sit at that table as part of it, not the person waiting to be translated to.
Whichever one is yours, that is where your first lesson starts. Not page one of a textbook.
Why one-on-one
Every minute is spent on your Russian, not a class average
In a group, you wait your turn and learn the same script as ten strangers. One-on-one, there is nowhere to hide and nothing wasted. I hear every sentence you say, catch the exact thing tripping you up, and we fix it on the spot. You speak the whole lesson, because the lesson is only you.
We skip what you already know
No sitting through basics you have. We spend the hour on the gap between where you are and where you want to be.
You talk from lesson one
Real sentences first, the way I have taught for years. Usage before grammar tables, speaking before perfect endings.
I hear your mistakes and fix them
I catch the habit before it sets, explain the why in plain words, and you say it again right. A recording or an app never can.

Who teaches you
Hi, I am Liza.
I am from Belarus, and I have taught Russian to English speakers for over five years. The same questions came back to me again and again, so I stopped teaching from a textbook and built my own way to learn, one that does not open with alphabet panic or the six cases.
I am not a strict teacher. I am the person who sits with you, laughs at the mistakes with you, and keeps you talking until Russian stops feeling like a test and starts feeling like a conversation.
The Simple Russian Method
Conversations first. Grammar when it helps. Speaking from day one.
This is the part an app cannot copy and a cheap tutor does not have. Over five years of teaching English speakers, I built my own way to learn Russian and wrote my own material for it. You are not buying an hour of someone's time. You are getting the method applied to your level, your mistakes, and the real reason you care about Russian.
Real conversations first
We begin with short sentences you can actually say, not a grammar wall you have to climb before speaking.
Meaning before tables
You understand what the sentence is doing before I ask you to memorize endings. The grammar explains a real phrase you already met.
Your real life
We build the words around your reason: family, love, culture, travel, heritage, or the conversations you keep imagining.
The method is what gets you speaking, not just the hour. That is what you are really paying for, and it is why this is coaching, not a cheap hour of practice.
What changes
What you will be able to do
- ✓Open your mouth and have the words come out in the right order, without the panic first.
- ✓Read Cyrillic without the dread. We fix that early, it is easier than it looks.
- ✓Hold a real back-and-forth conversation, not just recite the phrases you rehearsed.
- ✓Follow a Russian film, a song, or a writer and actually catch what they mean.
- ✓If it runs in your family, understand the older ones without anyone translating.
- ✓Say the real thing to the people you love, in their language, not a guess.
- ✓Sound like yourself in Russian: warm, a bit funny, you, not a textbook.
Why only five
I keep it to five students at a time
Not to look exclusive. Real one-on-one teaching takes my full attention, and five is the most I can give that to at once without anyone getting half of me. When the five spots are full, they are full until someone finishes. That is why this starts with an application, not a checkout button.

Three steps, no sales call to survive
You apply below
About two minutes. You tell me who you are, why Russian, and where you are starting from. It costs you nothing but the time to write it.
You get your recommendation
Right after you submit, the page matches your answers to the clearest next step. For most serious beginners, that is the 10-hour path.
You book and we start
If the recommendation feels right, you can book immediately. Then we use the first lesson to map your plan and get straight to speaking.
Not sure you want a full package yet? Tell me honestly where you are. The recommendation starts with the strongest path, and you can still choose the trial if you want to feel the lesson first.

What my students say
5.0 from 8 verified readers, and 172 books sold so far.
“I’d had two or three teachers before, and nothing really stuck. With Liza it finally clicked, now I can actually hold a conversation, and she makes it fun. Honestly, the best teacher I’ve had.”
A very engaging and interesting language study resource. I never got to learn Russian at school all those years ago, and this is the next best way for me. An excellent, comprehensive and very enjoyable self-study book.
I am learning Russian with Duolingo, but I am glad to accept Liza’s help through this book to improve my Russian too. As a fellow Scot, I am proud to support her.
Excellent buy.
Good questions
Before you apply
I am a complete beginner. Is that okay?
Yes. Most of my students start at zero. One-on-one means we begin exactly where you are, with no one to fall behind.
I do not have much time.
Lessons fit your schedule, and because everything is built around you, no minute goes on Russian you will never use.
Do I need to learn the alphabet first?
No. We can speak using Latin transcription from day one. Cyrillic comes when you are ready, and it lands faster than you expect.
How is this different from a normal tutor?
A tutor gives you an hour of practice. I give you the Simple Russian Method, built around your reason for learning, shaped by the same questions my students asked me again and again over five years. That is what turns lessons into actually speaking.
How are lessons delivered?
Online, one-on-one, over video, at a time that works for you, wherever you are.
